Newborn Swimming

Age: 0-2 months

Location: home

Details: Newborns have an inborn diving reflex, that persists approximately up to the age of 3 months. We strongly believe that the best time to start swimming is on day 1.
Please contact me to arrange a training session at your home.

Age: 2-12 months (*see the Note)

Location: the Tangreen Pool at 20 Tangreen Court

Details:
  • This is the most popular program we have! The approach is very different from the standard "Introduction to Water" offered by other providers. When a child starts early enough, he/she does not need to be reintroduced to water, but rather "returned" to the original state of comfort.
  • The classes are held in small groups. At least one guardian must be in water with the baby.  The instructor will spend quite a bit of time one-on-one+ during the first few classes teaching the guardian main concepts and safety techniques of baby swimming. Once the guardian is comfortable, the instructor is always going to be at an arm's reach, but will allow for more freedom to interact with other parents and their babies.
  • This is the space for parents to get to know one another while supporting each other in raising of healthy children.
  • Please do not forget to bring swimming diapers or swimming underwear for the baby, as well a snack for after the class (breastmilk works magic!)

*Note:
  • <2 months Some babies grow out of the home bathtub early. You're welcome to start attending group classes before the baby turns 2 months.
  • >12 months Older kids require a different approach from the start. We have a few older siblings coming to the baby classes with their younger brothers and sisters. In this case, however, a second parent should be in water, and a success of the older sibling's progress is directly proportional to the guardian's enthusiasm.
